The concept of harnessing the new world of interconnectivity via IoT is beginning to gain momentum globally with cities around the world investing in the infrastructure required to become smart in order to maximize efficiency, sustainability and improve living conditions for citizens. Versecom's vision is to build the distribution infrastructure for smart cities in Africa using WiFi technology.
Wi-Fi offload is the use of complementary network technologies for delivering data originally targeted for cellular networks. Offloading reduces the amount of users being carried on the cellular bands, freeing bandwidth for other users. It is also used in situations where local cell reception may be poor [e.g. In-buildings], allowing the user to connect via wired services with better connectivity.
SURVEILLANCE AS A SERVICE
In order to build a city wide Wi-Fi network, Versecom is building an extensive micro-site infrastructure (Real estate, power, security & backhauling channels) to deploy its services. All of these have the same requirements for a city wide CCTV deployment, collocating this equipment (business) on the same infrastructure allows Versecom maximize the Return on Asset (RoA).
As the masters of public WiFi deployments we help our clients efficiently install and run temporary and/or permanent free or paid WiFi for seminars, concerts, camps etc.
